શ્રાવણ માસ, શિવભકતોમાં તપ, આરાધના અને ભકિતનો માહોલ અમદાવાદમાં એક હજાર વર્ષ પૂર્વે પ્રભાસના સોમનાથ મંદિરેથી અખંડજ્યોત લાવી અહીં પ્રસ્થાપીત કરેલી છે જે આ સ્થાનના મહત્તાની સાક્ષી પૂરે છે. મંદિરમાં ઋષિ મુનીઓની સમાધિ આવેલી છે 

Amdavad અમદાવાદમાં નારોલના શાહવાડી વિસ્તારમાં મહેશ્વરનું એક હજાર વર્ષથી વધારે પ્રાચીન અને પ્રસિદ્ધ સ્થાનક આવેલુ છે. જે અમદાવાદના સોમનાથ તરીકે ઓળખાય છે. Shiv આશુતોષના આ સોમનાથ સ્વરૂપના દર્શન માત્રથી ભક્તોને ધન્યતાની અનુભૂતિ થાય છે. સોમનાથના દર્શન માત્રથી તેમના ભવ-ભવના પાપોનો નાશ થાય છે........વાસ્તવમાં શ્રદ્ધાળુઓને મન પ્રભાસના somnath સોમનાથ તીર્થ સરીખા જ છે. 

સોમનાથ મહાદેવના પાવનકારી સ્થાનકનો મહિમા ન માત્ર શ્રાવણ માસ પરંતુ બારેય માસ શ્રદ્ધાળુઓની ભીડથી ઘેરાયેલું રહે છે. દરેક સોમવારની સાથે ગુરુવારના દર્શનનું પણ વિશેષ મહત્વ છે. શ્રાવણ માસના સોમવાર અને મહાશિવરાત્રીના રોજ મંદિરમાં વિશેષ પૂજાનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવે છે. જેમાં દર્શનનો લ્હાવો લેવાં મોટી સંખ્યામાં ભક્તો ઉમટી પડે છે.

Monday સોમવારથી શરૂ થતો શ્રાવણ પાંચમાં સોમવારે જ પૂર્ણ થઈ રહ્યો તેવો અનોખો યોગ કહો કે સંયોગ સાત દાયકા બાદ ફરી થવા જઈ રહ્યો છે.

 હાલ વિક્રમ સંવત 2080 ચાલી રહ્યું છે. આ પહેલા વિક્રમ સંવત 2010 અને વર્ષ 1953માં ઓગસ્ટ માસની 10મી તારીખે સોમવારથી શરૂ થયેલો શ્રાવણ માસ સોમવારે પૂર્ણ થયો હતો. 71 વર્ષ બાદ ફરી આવો સંયોગ રચાઈ રહ્યો છે.અમદાવાદના શિવ મંદિરોમાં પણ આગામી બે માસ માટે પૂજન-અર્ચન માટે વિશિષ્ટ આયોજન કરાશે. અમદાવાદના પ્રાચિન કર્ણમુક્તેશ્વર મહાદેવ, રખિયાલમાં આવેલા ચકુડિયા મહાદેવ મંદિર, ઈન્દિરાબ્રિજ પાસે સાબરમતી નદીના પટમાં આવેલ રણમુક્તેશ્વર મંદિર, વસ્ત્રાલ ગામના પ્રાચિન શિવ મંદિર, સિગરવામાં આવેલ સિદ્ધેશ્વર મહાદેવ મંદિર, એરપોર્ટની દિવાલને અડીને આવેલા કુબેરેશ્વર મંદિરમાં મોટી સંખ્યામાં શિવભક્તો ઉમટી પડશે.

The glory of the sacred place of Somnath Mahadev is surrounded by the crowd of devotees not only in the month of Shravan but also in all the twelve months. Along with every Monday, the sighting of Thursday also has a special significance. Special pujas and abhishekams are performed to the deity on the day of Sivaratri. A large number of devotees thronged the temple to have the darshan.

The unique yoga that begins on Monday and ends on the fifth Monday of Shravan, say that the coincidence is going to happen again after seven decades.

The 2080 season is currently underway. Before this, the month of Shravan, which started on the 10th day of August in Vikram Samvat 2010 and 1953, ended on Monday. It is happening again after 71 years. Special pujas will also be held in temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. There will be a large number of devotees at the ancient Karnamukteshwar Mahadev temple in Ahmedabad, the Chakudiya Mahadev temple in Rakhial, the Ranmukteshwar temple on the Sabarmati riverbed near Indira Bridge, the ancient Shiva temple in Vastral village, the Siddheshwar Mahadev temple in Sigrava and the Kubereshwar temple adjacent to the airport wall.
