ગુજરાતમાં આજે સ્થાનિક સ્વરાજની ચૂંટણીનું (gujarat local body election voting) મતદાન થઈ રહ્યું છે. બપોરે 3 વાગ્યા સુધીમાં સરેરાશ 45 ટકા જેટલું મતદાન નોંધાયું હતું. બપોરને સમય હોવા છતાં ઘણા મતદાન કેન્દ્રો પર મતદારોની લાઇન હતી.

ચૂંટણી પહેલા જ 66 નગરપાલિકાના 461 વોર્ડ પૈકી કુલ 24 વોર્ડ બિનહરીફ થયા છે. નગરપાલિકાની 1844 બેઠકો પૈકી 167 બેઠકો બિનહરીફ જાહેર થઇ છે. આથી હવે 1677 બેઠક પર ચૂંટણી યોજાઇ રહી છે. આ બેઠકો માટે 5084 ઉમેદવારો મેદાનમાં છે.
