India will celebrate its 78th Independence Day in 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the national flag at Delhi's Red Fort on the occasion. After this, he remembered the freedom fighters while addressing the country. 

From the ramparts of the Red Fort, PM Modi said that there was a time when people were determined to die for the country. Today is the time for commitment to live for the country. If the commitment to die for the country can bring freedom, the commitment to live for the country can also create a prosperous India. Our reforms are not a political compulsion. We are inspired by the resolve of National First. 

During his address, PM Modi said that today is an auspicious time when we are saluting the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. The country is grateful to them. We express our gratitude to every such countryman. Inspiring the country, PM Modi said that when we were 40 crore, we defeated the superpower, today we are 140 crore. "" "Today we remember the countless freedom fighters who gave us a free country, we pay tribute to them today." We are worried because of the recent natural calamity, many people have lost their loved ones, their property, we stand in solidarity with them. 

When PM Modi walked towards the rampart to unfurl the flag, a 21-gun salute was fired from an indigenous 105 mm light field gun 

About 6000 special guests have been invited to the ceremony. Particularly, people associated with initiatives like Atal Innovation Mission, volunteers of Mera Yuva Bharat, people from tribal communities and representatives of farmers' organizations were also present at the event
